Description

The Natrix is a small multi-role craft manufactured by OPLI-Barnard Inc. As a cheap vessel with limited cargo space, it is most often used by first-time pilots hoping to eke out a living as interstellar traders. The more ambitious often hope to begin with this small craft, and earn their fortune over time. A few may even hope to abandon the trading life, in search of some grand interstellar adventure. It is in production since about 180 years for now without any major change in it's design, so it's quite easy to find spare parts for it. And it do needs those spare parts because it needs to be constantly taken care of. It's maintenance cycle is fairly short, but on the other hand, it's simplistic build makes a very easy to maintain craft. It's performance is mediocre at best though. The Natrix has a fair cargo and fuel capacity, and with some work it's crew compartment can be turned in to a very comfortable and roomy one. Which means it finely fits for mid-range interstellar tasks. It spread throughout Solar Federation and independent space, but it's not too common in CIW territory, one could even say it's disliked, because of it's manufactured by penal labor, and SolFed prisons are full of political criminals.

Role

It's a decent multi-role craft fit for mid-rang cargo and courier tasks, but it shines more in low-range and interplanetary context. It needs some remodeling of the crew space to be sufficiently roomy and comfortable for a mid-range flight. As with it's smaller counterpart Amphiesma, it's quite popular among companies on a budget. It's similarly popular among smugglers and alike.
