Description
The LunarShuttle was built in the 3170's as an alternative to large tourist ships. These little shuttles were built for local transport between planets in a single star system. As a result of this it hasn't a hyperdrive mount. Due to its size it can land practically everywhere. Because of the low buy and maintenance costs and its comfortable interior it became very popular, especially for inhabitants of local star systems who wanted to travel further afield but lacked interest, budget or both to discover more of the galaxy. Pirate are not attacking those ships very often because it has mounts for two guns and is often unrentable as target. Today the LunarShuttles are often used by taxi companies and for local tourist flights. There are cases known that poor people from planets built up a local buissiness and became interstellar traders after making enough money.
Improvements and changes
Over the time the exterior stayed the same while the interior changed a bit. Newer ships have more comfortable and ergonomic seats, the controls became a bit easier to handle. Cheap upgrade kits are the reason why there are nearly no ships without these new improvements present on the market.
Other uses
The Sol Federation used some LunarShuttles as light, comfortable, two-manned escort and patrol ship.
